Blue Mountains - Grand Canyon

Sunset at Echo Point...

...and over ...

... Mount Solitary

huge bushfires destroyed vast parts of the Grand Canyon during the last years

but nature’s reviving the valley and some of the old Gum-trees survived

water running down the mossy rock walls

crossing the first creek

autumn colors

looked really surreal with all the dead wood around

somewhat reminded me of She-lob

the water level is way below the tiny black line next to the ferns!

although the cliff’s way above us, we’re not nearly down to the bottom

pathfinding for beginners...

...and advanced...

...and experts!

be careful

getting out of the narrow canyon...

... and getting the first view of the valley

steep decline towards...

Beauchamps falls

we had our breakfast on the ‘tiny’ rock just above the center

freaky, when you don’t see it until it moves right in front of your shoe

well, we started somewhere up there

crossing the cascades

Yellow-tailed Black- Cockatoo - larger than it looks like!

the once trickling water has become a small river...

...strengthened by many small creeks...

...and forming calm pools

our destination

nice spot for a bath...

...although very cold...

...but not unpleasant, standing on the rock

the way to Grose valley

can you see it?

our ‘path’ returning up the hill

better to identify but even worse to walk (and steeper than it seems)

...and very strenuous!

almost up to the top

up there is Evan’s Lookout

we were down in this valley, close to the light colored spots in the center

..and came along this creek

just to give you an impression: the cliff alone is about 150 metres high!

impressive landslide

and we climbed up somewhere around here

happy and tired

that was our path to the top

well, that’s not exactly right...

Mount Banks towering over the Grose Valley

still happy but refreshed
